Mrky ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using any Mrky product or service, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Mrky Desktop (Windows app):

• The application operates primarily offline. It does not transmit personal data to our servers during normal use.
• A license key activation request is sent to our licensing provider (Paddle) upon first activation. This includes your license key and basic device information (operating system type).
• If you contact us directly (e.g., via email for support), we receive only the information you provide in that communication.

Mrky Browser Extension:

• Account registration requires an email address and password.
• Flashcard data (words, translations, screenshots) is stored in your account on our servers to enable cloud sync and cross-device access.
• Usage data such as review session counts and vocabulary statistics may be stored to provide the service features.
• Screenshots captured via OCR mode are processed on our servers solely to extract text. Screenshots are not stored after processing.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not track your browsing activity outside of the Mrky extension's core functionality.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
• We do not collect payment card information — all payments are handled directly by our authorized payment platforms.
• We do not collect data from minors under the age of 16.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Verify and activate your software license
• Provide, maintain, and improve our products and services
• Sync your flashcard data across devices (browser extension)
• Respond to your support requests and communications
• Send product update notifications (you may opt out at any time)

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

• Authorized payment platforms — payment processing and order management. Mrky does not receive or store your card details. The applicable platform's own privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
• Tesseract (OCR engine) — the desktop app uses Tesseract for optical character recognition. Tesseract runs entirely on your local device. No image data is transmitted to any external server.
• Translation services — words you select are routed through Mrky's own servers to Google Translate for dictionary lookups, and phrases or sentences are translated via DeepL. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
• Google Cloud Vision API (optional) — if you configure a Google Cloud Vision API key in settings, images submitted for OCR are transmitted to Google's servers. This feature is entirely opt-in and disabled by default.

6. Data Storage and Security

For the desktop application, all user data (flashcards, settings, review history) is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data. For the browser extension, data is stored on secured servers. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and associated data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. For the desktop application, all data is retained locally on your device and is under your control.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• The right to access the data we hold about you
• The right to correct inaccurate data
• The right to request deletion of your data
• The right to object to or restrict processing
• The right to data portability
